Garlic Planting
The garlic is in! We planted it a little later than usual this year, but we had such a bitter cold early October, that garden work was just not appealing. The past week, though, has been warmish and moist with a little sun here and there. I welcomed this weather with open arms. I do like to plant this time of year. Such hope is present with the knowledge that those plump aromatic cloves will have to endure freezing temperature for months, to eventually shoot out a green spike and then magically reproduce itself times eight in the dark of the soil. It is exciting isn’t it?

Thanks for the inspiration! Everytime I read your blog I want to go out and work in my garden – - will be planting garlic tomorrow! How deep?
I plant my garlic about 1 1/2 times the length of the clove deep. Have fun!
It is exciting, especially when you know what you can do with garlic.
I learned from Italian olive oil pressers to toast bread on an open fire and scrape a clove of garlic over the rough toasted service and dip it in the fresh squeezed olive oil. What a wonderful snack! It’s one of my favorites.
Thanks for the reminder.
